LAKE SHORE AND ISLINGTON
22 octobre 2007 – 22:38This 1-1/2-storey cottage was bound to attract a lot of attention because of its location on a residential street running south to the waterfront in Etobicoke, agent Barbara Polson
says.
The house eventually sold for $41,000 more than the asking price.
“In the last couple of years, [the waterfront community has] gotten kind of hot because the Beaches is so expensive,” she notes.
Like the popular east end neighbourhood, this one has trails along the lake, sports facilities, a community centre and streetcar service. “There’s a lot going on down there,” Ms. Polson adds.
The 82-year-old house has many appealing attributes, from a quaint facade to updated interiors.
“It’s hard to find something in that [price] range that is in such nice condition,” Ms. Polson says.
There are two bedrooms, three bathrooms, a main-floor den and solarium, as well as a basement apartment with a separate entrance.
The main level has nine-foot ceilings, and new hardwood flooring from the living and dining rooms to the eat-in kitchen, which also was remodelled with cherry/maple cabinets.
The solarium has a walkout to a deck in a secluded backyard with perennial gardens, a koi pond with a waterfall, and a walkway to a hot tub and shed. The latter “looks like a little cottage in itself,” Ms. Polson adds. Underground sprinklers make the grounds easy to maintain.
Broadloom covers the sitting room and two bedrooms upstairs. The master suite features a skylight, walk-in closet and three-piece bathroom.
The lower level has a bedroom and a living room with a set of appliances in the kitchen area.
While there is no garage, the property has a front parking pad.
